Terms of Use

Last updated: 05/10/2026
Contents

These Terms of Use govern your use of TrameWeaver, including the TrameWeaver website, web app, desktop app, and Cloud services.

TrameWeaver is operated from Australia by Gaëtan Selle trading as TrameWeaver (ABN 36 440 385 792).

Contact: hello@trameweaver.com

By creating a TrameWeaver account, using the service, or purchasing a TrameWeaver product, you agree to these Terms.

1.What TrameWeaver is

TrameWeaver is writing and story-development software designed around a local-first workflow.

Depending on the plan and platform you use, TrameWeaver may provide:

  • a web application;
  • a desktop application;
  • local project storage and export;
  • paid Pro features; and
  • optional Cloud storage, synchronisation, history, backup, or related online features.

The features included with each plan are described on the TrameWeaver website and pricing page.

2.Your account

You need a TrameWeaver account to use account-based features, paid entitlements, and Cloud services.

You are responsible for:

  • providing an email address you control;
  • keeping access to that email account secure;
  • not sharing sign-in links or account access with other people; and
  • letting us know if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

Your TrameWeaver account is personal to you and must not be sold, transferred, or shared as a way of giving another person access to a paid licence.

You must be at least 16 years old to create a TrameWeaver account.

If you are under the age at which you can enter into a binding purchase agreement in your jurisdiction, a parent or legal guardian must make or authorise any paid TrameWeaver purchase on your behalf.

By completing a paid purchase, you confirm that you have the legal capacity to enter into that transaction or that the transaction has been authorised by a parent or legal guardian where required.

3.Free

TrameWeaver offers a Free version through the web app.

Free lets you use the features described as included with Free on our website. We may develop or adjust the Free feature set over time, but we will not deliberately prevent you from exporting your own work merely to force you onto a paid plan.

Some features, including use of the desktop application and certain Pro features, require a Pro licence.

4.Pro

Pro is a paid TrameWeaver licence.

Unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase, Pro is purchased with a one-time payment rather than a recurring subscription.

A valid Pro licence gives the account that purchased or received it access to the Pro functionality described on our website, including access to the TrameWeaver desktop application where supported.

The Pro licence itself does not expire simply because an included Cloud period ends.

A Pro licence is personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and may be used on compatible devices you own or control for your own use. It does not give you ownership of the TrameWeaver software, source code, branding, or other intellectual property.

A one-time Pro purchase does not mean that every future TrameWeaver product, separate service, platform, or major new offering must be provided without additional charge. If we introduce a separately priced product or service in future, we will describe that clearly before you purchase it.

5.Cloud included with Pro

A new Pro purchase currently includes 12 months of TrameWeaver Cloud beginning when the Pro entitlement is activated.

Cloud is a service separate from the underlying Pro licence.

When the included Cloud period ends:

  • your Pro licence remains active;
  • local use of TrameWeaver and the Pro features covered by your licence remain available; and
  • continued use of paid Cloud functionality may require a Cloud subscription.

The Cloud period included with a Pro purchase is not itself an automatically renewing paid subscription. We will not begin charging you for Cloud merely because the included period expires.

If you want paid Cloud access after the included period, you must actively start a Cloud subscription when that option is available.

6.Cloud subscriptions

Where offered, TrameWeaver Cloud may also be purchased as a recurring subscription.

The price and billing period shown before purchase apply to that subscription.

A paid Cloud subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled, subject to any renewal notice or consent required by applicable law.

You may cancel a Cloud subscription at any time through the available billing-management tools or by contacting support. Cancellation stops future renewal charges and normally takes effect at the end of the already-paid billing period unless applicable law, our Refund Policy, or Paddle's buyer terms provide otherwise.

Cancelling Cloud does not cancel or revoke a separately purchased Pro licence.

If Cloud access ends, you should make sure you have local copies or exports of projects you wish to retain. Our Privacy Policy explains how Cloud data is handled after account or Cloud-service changes.

7.Payments and Paddle

Paid TrameWeaver purchases are processed by Paddle.com, which acts as the Merchant of Record for our orders.

This means your purchase transaction is made through Paddle. Paddle is responsible for matters including payment processing, applicable transaction taxes, receipts, and payment-related buyer support.

TrameWeaver remains responsible for providing and supporting the TrameWeaver software and services you purchase.

The final price, currency, applicable taxes, payment method, and whether a purchase is one-time or recurring will be shown before you complete checkout.

For recurring purchases, Paddle may charge your payment method when the subscription renews until you cancel it.

We do not receive or store your full payment-card details.

8.Refunds, reversals, and consumer rights

Refund requests are handled in accordance with our Refund Policy, Paddle's applicable buyer terms and refund procedures, and any rights you have under applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies consumer guarantees, refund rights, or other statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

For Australian consumers, this includes rights and consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law.

If a Pro purchase is fully refunded, reversed, charged back, or otherwise cancelled, the Pro licence and any Cloud access granted as part of that purchase may also be revoked.

If a Cloud subscription payment is refunded or reversed, the corresponding paid Cloud entitlement may be adjusted or revoked.

Where a payment is disputed or appears fraudulent or unauthorised, access associated with that transaction may be suspended while the matter is investigated.

9.Your writing stays yours

You retain ownership of the stories, scripts, notes, characters, projects, and other content you create or import into TrameWeaver.

We do not claim ownership of your writing.

When you choose to use a Cloud feature, you give us the limited permission necessary to store, copy, transmit, process, and back up the project data involved so that we can provide that Cloud feature to you.

That permission is only for operating and providing TrameWeaver and does not transfer ownership of your work to us.

We do not sell your writing, publish your private projects, or use your writing to train AI models.

More information about how data is handled is in our Privacy Policy.

10.Local-first projects and your backups

TrameWeaver is designed so that projects can be worked on locally.

Local-only projects are your responsibility to preserve. Clearing browser storage, losing or replacing a device, deleting application data, or other local-device events may remove locally stored work that has not been exported or saved elsewhere.

TrameWeaver provides export functionality so you can keep independent copies of important work.

Cloud functionality can provide additional storage, synchronisation, history, or backup features, but no online service can guarantee against every possible form of data loss.

You should keep independent exports of work you cannot afford to lose.

11.Acceptable use

You must not use TrameWeaver to:

  • break applicable law;
  • interfere with, overload, damage, or disrupt TrameWeaver or its infrastructure;
  • attempt to access another user's account or private data without permission;
  • bypass account, entitlement, payment, or security controls;
  • probe or exploit security vulnerabilities without our permission;
  • redistribute, sublicense, resell, or commercially provide access to your TrameWeaver account or licence;
  • reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code except to the extent that applicable law expressly gives you a right to do so; or
  • use the service in a way that infringes the rights of another person.

Writing fictional, controversial, mature, or otherwise sensitive material is not by itself a breach of these Terms. You remain responsible for ensuring your use of TrameWeaver and the content you distribute complies with applicable law.

12.TrameWeaver's intellectual property

The TrameWeaver software, source code, website, design, trademarks, branding, documentation, and other TrameWeaver materials belong to Gaëtan Selle trading as TrameWeaver or our applicable licensors and are protected by intellectual-property law.

These Terms give you permission to use TrameWeaver in accordance with your plan and licence. They do not transfer ownership of TrameWeaver itself to you.

Your own writing and project content remain yours as described in section 9.

13.Updates and compatibility

We may update TrameWeaver to fix bugs, improve security, maintain compatibility, introduce or change features, or otherwise develop the product.

The desktop app may use an update mechanism to make new versions available.

We cannot promise indefinite compatibility with every operating system, browser, device, third-party service, or older version of TrameWeaver.

Where an update is materially required for security, service compatibility, or Cloud functionality, continued use of some features may require updating to a supported version.

14.Availability and changes to the service

We aim to keep TrameWeaver reliable, but uninterrupted availability is not guaranteed.

The website, authentication, Cloud services, payment systems, email delivery, or other online features may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, faults, security events, provider outages, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

We may add, change, replace, or discontinue features as the product develops.

Where a change materially affects a paid service you are currently entitled to use, we will take reasonable steps to communicate the change and will comply with any rights you have under applicable law.

15.Third-party services

TrameWeaver relies on third-party infrastructure and service providers for parts of the service, such as authentication, hosting, email delivery, Cloud infrastructure, payments, and software distribution.

Those providers may have their own terms and privacy policies where you interact directly with them.

Our use of third-party providers does not reduce any responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.

16.Suspension and termination

You can stop using TrameWeaver at any time.

We may suspend or restrict an account where reasonably necessary because of:

  • a serious or repeated breach of these Terms;
  • fraud, chargebacks, or suspected unauthorised payment activity;
  • security risks;
  • misuse of the service;
  • legal or regulatory requirements; or
  • conduct that materially threatens TrameWeaver, its infrastructure, or other users.

Where appropriate and lawful, we will try to give you notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue before permanently terminating access.

Suspension or termination does not affect rights or obligations that arose before it occurred.

17.Account deletion

You may request deletion of your TrameWeaver account and associated personal data, subject to information we are required or permitted to retain for legal, tax, fraud-prevention, transaction-record, dispute, or security purposes.

Account deletion is different from cancelling a Cloud subscription or requesting a refund.

Deleting your account may make licences, Cloud projects, and other account-based entitlements inaccessible. If you have a paid licence and are considering deleting your account, contact us first if you are unsure of the effect.

Our Privacy Policy explains account and data deletion in more detail.

18.The service and consumer guarantees

TrameWeaver is provided using reasonable care, but software can contain bugs and online services can experience interruptions.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we do not give warranties beyond those expressly stated in these Terms or required by law.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, statutory warranty, condition, right, or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, including rights under the Australian Consumer Law where it applies.

19.Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TrameWeaver is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from your use of the service, including loss resulting from failure to maintain independent copies of locally stored work.

Where our liability can lawfully be limited, our total aggregate liability arising from or relating to TrameWeaver will not exceed the amount you paid for the relevant TrameWeaver product or service during the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

These limitations do not apply where liability cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Nothing in this section limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or other mandatory consumer-protection law.

20.Claims resulting from your unlawful use

If your unlawful use of TrameWeaver, or your material breach of these Terms, causes a third party to bring a claim against us, you may be responsible for the reasonable loss or cost resulting directly from that conduct to the extent permitted by law.

This does not make you responsible for losses caused by TrameWeaver's own conduct or for liabilities that cannot lawfully be transferred to you.

21.Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as TrameWeaver, our business, or applicable legal requirements change.

The date at the top of this page will show when the Terms were last updated.

If a change materially affects an existing paid service or your rights, we will take reasonable steps to provide appropriate notice before the change takes effect where required.

Changes do not retrospectively remove rights that have already accrued.

22.Changes to our business structure

We may transfer our rights and obligations relating to TrameWeaver to a successor business or entity, for example if TrameWeaver changes from a sole trader to a company or if the business is transferred.

Any such transfer remains subject to applicable law and does not remove rights that you already have.

23.Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.

Nothing in this section prevents you from relying on mandatory consumer protections or other rights that apply to you under the laws of your jurisdiction.
